New Butterfly Note Cards with a Special Meaning

I've just gotten in a lot of new paper craft toys and have been hard at work creating some new cards! I'm totally in love with my latest set, "Be your own kind of Beautiful"

There's actually a real nice story behind the creation of this note card.  You see, butterflies are usually associated with Autism Awareness.   This is a cause that is near and dear to my family. My son, Will, was diagnosed at age 7, but it was an up hill battle since he was four years old (and really the signs were there from the time he was about a year old). Bill and I are active parents who were telling his doctors, teachers and counselors all along that something was wrong. The pediatrician that we saw was supposedly an expert in child behavior and made us go through parenting classes. Parenting class - without even evaluating Will, because if he had even spent 5 minutes with Will, he would have known something was different. We have never went back to him. Unfortunately, it took Will getting violent in the classroom before we were able to have him tested.

Today Will is doing well! We have wonderful doctors who are working with us, a team of teachers and counselors who are helping us and a wonderful support group of family and friends who have stood by us.

Will and I recently signed up for the Run/Walk for Autism 5k.  We're really excited about this run.  As part of the participation for the event, we were asked if we could help fund raise for the cause.  I set a small goal and sent out a few emails asking friends and family to support Will and his goal.  Amazingly, Will reached his fundraising goal within twenty minutes and bounces in and out of the top 10 fundraisers for the event!

As a way to thank our donors, I created this card.  Will and I both hand wrote notes to each and have mailed them.  I've had many compliments on this card and have been asked if I would be selling them.  After some consideration I decided that I would sell them and all proceeds from the sell of these cards will go to the North Carolina Autism Association in honor of my son Will and in support of his fundraising efforts for the Run/Walk Autism 5k on September 27, 2014.
